Join us at Friends of Allan Gardens' Vegetable Seed Starting Workshop, where we'll provide you with the knowledge, experience, and materials to start your own seeds at home. We’ll focus on vegetable garden seeds but most of the same concepts will apply to other plants as well.
Pay-what-you-can!
Starting your own seeds is a great way to save money, it broadens the variety of plants that you can grow, and prepares you to save your own seeds down the road. In this workshop, we’ll teach you about seedling lifecycles, what seeds need to germinate, and how to properly care for your seeds and seedlings until they’re ready to be transplanted outdoors.
During the workshop, you’ll have the (optional) opportunity to start your own tray of seedlings, which you can bring home for transplanting into your garden this spring. Please bring the following supplies if you have them:
· Any seeds that you’d like to grow this year
· 1 seedling tray
· 1 cell-pack insert
· 1 humidity dome (if desired)
We'll also have these supplies available for purchase, by donation.
