The Leaflet eNewsletter Winter 2021
Dear Friend,
We hope this finds you healthy and hopeful.
Despite the ongoing closure of the Allan Gardens conservatory due to COVID-19 restrictions, the FOAG Board and staff have been busy over the last few months making connections with neighbours of the park and engaging in long-term planning on how to make refresh a reality. We will have more to share on this over the coming months.
The City continues to move forward with plans to bring the historic Palm House into a state of good repair and has recently selected an engineering firm to oversee the work. This work is expected to commence in fall 2021 and is anticipated to take approximately 16 months. FOAG will continue to provide input to the City and its consultants regarding this important project.
The Board has recently commenced anti-oppression training with Shoreline Collaboratives, a consultancy that supports small to midsize groups to identify and address gaps between values and practice in order to build intersectional spaces that reflect, serve, and are truly led by all members of our communities. This training is being carried out in light of FOAG’s statement for our community and we are hopeful that it will better position us to undertake the future phases of our work.
Please read on for more updates and garden blogs from our volunteers.
Stay safe and be well,
Board of Directors
Friends of Allan Gardens
