The Leaflet – October 2021

Dear Friend,

As the summer draws to a close and we start the transition into crisper weather, we are reflecting on the past season at the park.

As always, summer saw myriad gatherings in the park and despite it being our second pandemic summer, we were glad to have the Conservatory reopened to the public. While we are still relatively limited in our ability to offer programming during COVID, we did want to remind you that the Conservatory is open from 10am-4pm daily, including on holidays. So, why not plan a visit with family or friends for the upcoming long weekend?

Last month, we hosted another successful plant sale featuring a series of succulents propagated by volunteers from the Allan Gardens collection. Because it was an outdoor sale we were glad to be able to welcome many of our friends from the dog park and meet new people. And there are a few exciting events planned for the coming months. Check out the ‘What’s On’ section below to find out more about the planting of the park’s new Pollinator Playground demonstration garden and storytelling with the Children’s Book Bank and Ryerson University. As always, if you have any events happening in the park that you’d like us to share, please send us an email to info@friendsofallangardens.ca.

We’re also very proud to announce that FOAG has been awarded a TD Friends of the Environment Foundation grant for improving visitors’ experience with trees in the park. You can look forward to new signage and specialized tree tours in the coming months. A very special thanks to Bunny Sicard and Helene St. Jacques, two FOAG volunteers who co-authored the grant application with our Program Manager, Diana Teal.

We’re looking forward to the fall colours across the incredible collection of trees in the park and to meeting you in the park sometime soon.

Please read on for more news and information about Allan Gardens.

Sincerely,

Your Friends
